Both Koha and Ubuntu got updated recently to Koha 3.0.4 and Ubuntu 9.10 so I figured I should update my Live CD too. It was a bit difficult since remastersys is not working with Ubuntu 9.10 yet so had to do it manually, but by and large it works fine. You can get it here.
This release coincides with my site’s migration to WPMU so please excuse me if the site looks a little unpolished right now.

I installed the live CD, went to http://localhost:8080/ and got the install screen, but the user name and password are not valid. How can I reset them so that I can continue?
Are you sure you’re typing the correct one? It’s kohaadmin/katikoan, not root/mqr. It’s working for a lot of people and I don’t imagine it could change easily.
If you have to change the password, see one of the comments in the project page (http://mizstik.com/projects/koha-livecd/) It’s a fairly obscure procedure though.
Installed the latest live CD on old computer with no problems at all, but trying to install on laptop (packard bell mz35) is not happening. It loads the Cd ok up to the loading options but after that nothing (both running live cd or direct install) Laptop has 1 gig memory and new hard drive. What should this NON Computer boy do. Put another gig in? (There are kids in the philippines desperate for a library and your work has certainly made this possible)
The first thing I would try is booting the laptop with a regular Ubuntu live cd. If it can’t boot up with that, then your laptop might be incompatible.
Are you using release 3 or release 4 of koha live cd? If you happen to be using release 3, try the newest release 4. (Or if you’re using R4, try R3.) These two releases use different bootloaders so you could have more luck with one or the other.
Another thing you could try is the safe graphics mode. If you use R3, it’s the menu item called “Safe XVesa”. On R4, you need to type “xforcevesa” then press enter.
I don’t think increasing the RAM would help at boot time, but you could try if you have one around.
Thanks for quick reply. I’ll try your suggestions today and report back. Thanks again, your work has made a difference. Well done. “If the kids can’t read, how will they know what’s on TV?”
